May Family Activity

Saturday, May 2, from 11-1 we will be holding our Kenpo Olympics to benefit St. Jude's. We've raised over $13,000 in the past and hope to add a nice amount to that this year. Please see myself or Mr. Kevin for more information. It's a truly worthwhile cause. If you can't participate, think about sponsoring one of our kids. This is a chance for all of us to help someone less fortunate.

We will be playing games such as: ball tag, circle tag, tug-of-war, shark pond, tiger tails, obstacle course, musical chairs and more. In addition, the 10 ten children (based on donations) will be in a pool with one child being drawn to shave Mr. Kevin's head.

Sparring Days

Sparring is an important part for all Kenpo practicioners. If you are yellow belt and above, please plan on having your sparring gear with you on the days we practice this important part of our learning. An important part of learning to spar is using control. We are all friends and must do our very best to control our strikes when we are sparring. To check on sparring days for AprilClick here!

A word of thanks

Thank you to all who attend classes at GR Kenpo - you are the reason we are here!

The Zen of Kenpo by SGM Ed Parker

Feints are false leads that are often followed by committed action.

Women's Self-Defense Class

Saturday, May 9 from 4 to 5:30 I will be having an open women's self-defense class. This is for anyone interested in learning how to survive a street situation.

No belts, no uniforms, just some practical, realistic self-defense. Street clothes, sneakers, and a desire to learn something. I review a little from the previous weeks, and add something new each month.

This is for any woman (13+ is ok) that would like some skill and knowledge. The cost is only $15.00. Each class stands alone. This has become a monthly tradition and everyone really seems to like it. Come on in and enjoy and learn. Please call for reservation, 755-9994.

Time to Join Ronemus Kenpo Karate

I have a great deal going on right now. If you know of anyone interested in learning American Kenpo from the top instructor in the area, now is the time. All new students will receive 2 months of lessons, a uniform and a yellow belt manual for only $90 (Tiny Tigers only $60.00). Spread the word now.

Birthday Parties

We are now offering Birthday Parties again. What a great deal. No mess, no fuss, no clean-up for you. We supply a cake, snacks, pizza (or other food), and drinks.

You will receive a 30 min. Kenpo class (with your child as co-instructor), 30 minutes of Games, and 30 minutes of Birthday Party. All this for only $100.00 for the first 10 children (each additional child only $5.00 each).

The parties can also be held at your home for a reasonable rate. Please contact Mr. Ronemus or Miss Leah to get your date.

New York

Mr. Babel now has 20 Black Belts. They did a great job and I'm very proud of Mr. Babel for the job he is doing.

Mr. Babel and I taught at the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. They are the first college offering a BA in martial arts. The students were extremely respectful and interesting in hearing what we had to offer. It went very well and it looks like we will be bringing more Kenpo to the college next year.

Yours in Kenpo,

Mr. Ronemus and all of the instructors in the studio.
